Theory of contemporary web design and its application to development of responsive websites
Ferenc, Jakub ; Procházka, Josef (advisor) ; Fuglík, Viktor (referee)
By theoretical analysis we regard web design as a digital, design field, which is inherently creative. That is why we analyse it on the background of research in creativity, design and new media. We demystify the romantic view on creativity; analyse the componential, evolutionary and other views on creativity; find out that expertise and context are important for creativity. By analysis of theories of design we discard the perception of a designer as a "decorator"; define design as solving "wicked" problems and as a distinct type of thinking which is suitable for integrating art and technology as well as for innovations in the postindustrial society. We also analyse the relation between design and the user. We discuss code as "material" for web design. After the historical analysis of the evolution of Web we define an "axiomatic system" whereby we analyse Web. The axioms are: Web as a technological platform; Web as a new medium; Web as interface, consisting of code and the human side which exist in the broader sociocultural context; Web as interaction design; Web as a work existing and changing according to the immediate (spatiotemporal) context of use. With the analysis and axioms we elucidate why the current web design is responsive, "mobile first" and what role the mobile context...

Application of the principles and methodologies of web design in practice
Hřebík, Štěpán ; Vynikarová, Dana (advisor) ; David, David (referee)
In this diploma thesis the author wrote up actual theoretical basis, which every participant of the front-end development process of web-design should stick. There are categorization of websites, generalization of key-successful-web attributes and performance of two chosen design methodologies which are contained in the related part. In the practical part the author applied acquired knowledge on the real business subject especially by methodology combining. The prototype as a result is compiled from logical design series supported by research. There is a graphical design of home page also completing the whole result.
Responsive Web Design
Havelka, Petr ; Pavlíčková, Jarmila (advisor) ; Benáčanová, Helena (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to create a comprehensive material that covers the basic knowledge of theory and practices necessary to understand the whole complexity of the Responsive Web Design (RWD). This thesis first focuses on the RWD origin and its two approaches. Furthermore, the work deals with technical solutions of the RWD and technologies that enabled its creation or were found useful for it. This part also mentions tools which simplify the work with given technologies. The next part is devoted to Responsive CSS Frameworks as being the base for creating responsive websites and shows layout examples where two different approaches and frameworks were used. At last an issue of testing responsive websites is discussed.
Responsive Web Design
Němec, Milan ; Kosek, Jiří (advisor) ; Šubrta, Václav (referee)
This thesis deals with responsive web design, i.e. a method of creating web pages, which are adapted to device. The goal is to describe primary principles and introduce technological options of its creation. The described principles are discussed through exemplary source code and illustrations. Flexible grid, media queries and flexible images are the three basic pillars. The approaches of creating pages with mobile first and desktop first are two different strategies used in formation responsive pages. Responsive web design seems to be an appropriate method of building web pages intended for the mobile devices and desktops, against creating multiple version of web page for different devices.
Use of responsive design in the design application
Puškár, Ján ; Albrecht, Jakub (advisor) ; Voříšek, Jiří (referee)
The thesis compares the most frequently used approaches to presenting web content on mobile devices in order to enable a more effective decision-making process concerning content presentation approaches. This thesis in the first part focuses on the responsive design origin and its pillars. Furthermore, the work deals with a general assessment of the appropriateness of using responsive design and identification of differences in the maintaining of a classical web page, the page with the mobile version and with the responsive website. The next part is devoted to the practical demonstration of the implementation of responsive design for a new responsive site. The work contains a description of the workflow and results of testing.
Analysis of websites' responsive design
Ronovský, Jan ; Vojíř, Stanislav (advisor) ; Hradil, Jiří (referee)
The thesis is about current technologies and optimalization used in developing responsive websites. It summarizes current state and gives small prediction where the future of responsive design is going. This is analysed on 4 news websites ihned.cz, novinky.cz, blesk.cz, extra.cz which are analysed from point of view of areas, which have major influence on user's surfing experience. Websites are compared to each other using criteria, which correspond to each of those areas. Thesis also proposes a solution to each of the bigger mistakes, which each website makes. Those mistakes are in the coclusion put in context of other websites and used to reach a general recommendation, which solutions correct them and are therefore suitable to use in development of any responsive websites in the future.
Responsive webdesign
Hnízdil, Jakub ; Pavlíčková, Jarmila (advisor) ; Rosík, Jiří (referee)
This Master thesis focuses on responsive web design. The main objective is to provide comprehensive view of the website created in so-called responsive realization, and impart awareness to readers not only about idea of responsive web design itself, but also about other ways of creating mobile webs. Furthermore, thesis deals with constructing of overview and comparison of selected technologies and frameworks with support of creating responsive websites. Every group of technologies or procedures is discussed in single chapter, to let reader simple and clearly return to particular concepts. After reading this thesis the reader should acquire not only detailed knowledge about responsive web design, but also suggestions and manuals for creating websites and for decisions in choosing the type of technology, which is possible to use to creating websites.
Responzivní webdesign a jeho praktické využití
Slíva, Ondřej
This bachelor thesis deals with responsive webdesign. In the theoretical part is mentioned what actually responsive webdesign is, what does it deal with, why it makes sense to deal with it, what is the alternative to it and what are its advantages and disadvantages. Furthermore are mentioned meta tag viewport and three basic elements of resposive webdesign, which are fluid layout, media queries and flexible images. The practical part deals with coding of responsive websites (according to Mobile first approach) for the company Návrh loga according to obtained graphical design.
Web optimization for mobile devices and analysis of it's effects
Pospíšil, Jan ; Šedivá, Zuzana (advisor) ; Pour, Jan (referee)
The thesis is about the phenomena and benefits of design and development for mobile devices. Theoretical part of the thesis is focused on describing the mobile market's and devices' specifics and their future development and reasoning their values. In-depth description of the methods and problems of mobile applications' design with focus on web applications is included as well as the overview of technologies for mobile web development. Capability comparison of these technologies with the possibilities of native applications are described too. The practical part of the thesis aims to verify these theories by applying them to a real project (news portal). After an implementation part the thesis provides an analysis of the benefits this implementation provided to the project. The main goals of this thesis are providing complex overview of the methods and technologies for mobile web development and the analysis, which verifies the benefits and outcomes of these theories in real practice. Results of this analysis are as well the main contribution of this theses as it provides valuable information about the benefits of described methods on real project which is used by many users. Other contribution is the part describing the implementation which unveils practical information and real problems of described theoretical methods on practical examples.
